December, 2023 ~ We really enjoyed our stay at Gulfport Municipal Marina. This is our 2nd stay at GMM. The staff was helpful. Thanks TEZ for all your help!
GMM is located close to a great town with many shops, restaurants, pubs, and a beach. There are many events in town to enjoy. It is also very close to the Pinella’s Bike/Hike Trail, just a short bike ride to downtown St. Pete.
Suggestions:
Our first stay, we were lucky enough to stay on the floating dock which is within the marina’s gated area. This time we stayed at a long finger dock, which was gated, but the gate was at the end. We had to leave the fenced-in area every time we left the dock. Now this may not seem like an issue, however, we only had one fob. This means:
-we always had to have the fob with us to go anywhere (bathroom, shower, laundry, office, etc.)
-you needed the fob to get out! This was ridiculous.
We both had to be together to let each other in/out of the dock or bathroom area. VERY frustrating.
-the gates are on too tight of a spring, closing on your back if you are trying to get something off the dock.
-when we left, we had to walk our fob back, then a staff member had to walk us back to open the gate for us to walk on our dock - you need a drop off box
-we did not like the fact that we had to “leave” the marina to go to the bathroom, etc. The fence needs to be a couple feet further so ALL docks are within the gated area
Now, all this does not mean we will not stay again.
We really LIKE GMM! We plan to come again. It is a safe and clean marina. Unfortunately the best dock (the floating one which is close to office area and within fenced area) is used for bigger boats (ours is a 36)
Hopefully these suggestions will be considered and modified in the future.
Thank you GMM!
If you haven't been on Gulfport water front, you are missing out. Free parking, great playground for the kiddos, skate park, basketball court, and volleyball area, you can also fish for Is conch🐚 if the tide is right. …
Hidden gem. Great for kayak launch, boat launch, fuel and store to restock, shelled paths for walking or bike riding, plenty of benches and shade to sit and enjoy the scenery
..... I have recently become a victim of domestic violence by my husband and now the marina is going to allow my abuser to continue to use their services but as the victim I'm no longer welcome there....they even took my key fob away...... Smh....how is this ok?
Always a nice experience when staying at this marina. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Plenty of transient dock. Shower, washer/dryer, fuel pump out stations etc. The Marina is a quaint and peaceful place located in the small town of Gulfport FL. which has a bit of a Key West vibe to it. The marina is only a couple of blocks from downtown Gulfport's shops, bars, pier and bay. The town is easily accessible by bicycle or walking.
The Anchorage is good, and the mooring balls are insured by the city. It's a bit of a dinky drive from the mooring field to the actual marina, so don't expect quick access for the dingy dock. However if you just need to run to grab a beer or a restaurant, the public dingy dock is right next to the mooring balls.
Great place to walk and view nature and water. Love taking pictures.
Went on the dolphin and snorkeling tour, LOVED it! Truly recommend it, visited Egmont Key and walked the island, lovely beautiful time.
